The Empordà is a country of culture. World famous poets, writers, painters were born and lived here. There are exhibition halls and museums in practically every town. One of our favourites, due to its originality, is the one located in Torrent, very close to Palafrugell: the Jam Museum. Founded more than ten years ago, it shows jars of jam from all over the world. It has a very interesting bookstore about pastries and sells nice objects related to jam and cooking.

Of course, the most interesting thing is the workshop, where the jams are prepared. They have jam of all kinds, fruit, fruit with herbs, vegetables,… We love their proposals to accompany cheeses, or meats or foie gras or fish. They have jams of so many flavors and many have won international awards.

And one of our favorites is the gin and tonic jam. They propose to add it to some cockles, with salt, pepper and a few drops of lemon.

Going through there, on the way back from a walk or excursion, is very entertaining and somewhat dangerous: it is very difficult to leave without buying anything.
