Tamariu’s geyser

There are windy and stormy days, specially at the end of Autumn, which are not pleasant at all. If the wind comes from the East, there is a phenomenon close to Tamariu that is worth seeing.

Park your car at Xelida Cove. From there, there is a coastal walk (Camino de Ronda) towards Begur; follow it and in a few minutes you will reach La Roncadora. It is a 52 meters long and 17 meters deep crack that reaches the sea. The most stormy days, the waves crash into the rocks, go up the crack and stand out like a geyser to the outside, reaching sometimes 5 meters high.

There is a lookout with a fence -to avoid any hazards- and it is really exciting to see the water standing out from the crack. Local people from Palafrugell, as soon as they see the easterly wind, they get to la Roncadora to observe the phenomenon.
